Google Reader

Google's new feed reader launched today. Go to and sign in with your Google account to check out the spiffiness. Those of you who are used to feed readers know what to do with it. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, this is a fine opportunity to find out. You can use a feed reader to to subscribe to blogs (or similar sites) and get all the updates for all those sites in one place, cutting down on the amount of time you need to spend going around and checking all your friends' blogs just to see if they've updated or not. Very handy. If you want to subscribe to my blog, the address of my site feed is:

I'm so happy to see this (aggregator) space heating up! :)

And I think the Reader is a nice first effort from Google, though there are of course a few usability kinks I hope they work out.

And speaking of "they"... was this done primarily by the Blogger team or was it a cross-functional effort as suggested in the Google blog? Inquiring minds want to know :)

Reader was done by a separate team at Google, though a couple of the people on it used to work on Blogger. And yeah, I think I know some of the usability issues you're referring to, but like everything else, I'm sure it'll keep evolving.

Nice! Finally, you guys are matching Yahoo in this arena (sorry, Personalized Google was horrible at reading feeds).

You guys have done an excellant job on organizing even has labels like Gmail!

My only problem with it I am going to have to schedule some time out to transfer all of my feeds over (this will be the fourth time). LOL

I noticed on your blog you had a nice hack on your comments section showing who recently commented. How did you do that?

Reactor actually has an import tool, though I haven't tried it yet. Look under Your Subscriptions > More Actions > Import. That might speed things up a bit.

As for the comment trick, you can find it here.
