NaNo-No-Mo

If any of you have been wondering where the November flood of fiction is, I'm sorry. No Nanowrimo for me this year. The last two years were fun, but this time I'm just not feeling up to it in terms of time, energy or ideas. I still have mixed feelings about not doing it, though. On the one hand it was a definite relief to make that decision, but on the other, writing entire novels is really cool and it's a lot of fun to have done once it's over. Oh well. It would be nice to find some other creative project to work on, though. ("How about making an elemeter baromophant?" I hear you suggest. Good idea, but I've already got one.)

If nothing else, I should at least post to my blog more often. (NaBloPoMo, anyone?)

Hi Graham,

What do you think now, a few months after the event and deciding not to do it?

I must admit, Nov 2006 was my first NaNoWriMo and you're right, it certainly is a good experience though it can be quite busy I guess :-)

Oh, I'm doing another one in June 2007 with KiwiWriters and probably again in November 2007 with NaNoWriMo!

Well, I do think it's good that I didn't do it, since I had too much else going on at the time. It makes me more inclined to do it again this year, though. Some friends are actually doing make-up novelling this April (right now), for folks who skipped November. I might have done that with them, except I'm about to leave the country for a few weeks. :-)

I only just heard about NaNoWriMo 2007 (and participated) only to get the better part of a novel going and I'm still working on it. You mentioned wanting to find another creative project going...So there you go - whatever you do, you can always write about it! Good luck & Bon Voyage!
